“The experience was beyond our expectations! We were literally overwhelmed!”

Even though we couldn't arrive until 9:30 p.m., our hosts were very friendly and welcoming. Once we walked through the door of their beautiful country home, we knew we were in a very special Bed & Breakfast. Wonderful entryway and spiral staircase. As Caroline chatted with us, Richard created a fire in the fireplace of their elegant sitting room and stayed to tell us the history of the house and his family. This was amazing, considering they both were leaving the next day to travel many hours to be at the birth of their grandchild! In the morning we were overwhelmed again by the rich splendor of the dining room and hearty breakfast. The incredible beauty of the grounds and gardens kept us wandering and relaxing on the property for well over an hour. This experience was one of the highlights of our trip to Ireland!

Nutgrove Bed and Breakfast is set in a gorgeous area of Co.Down where we were attending a family wedding. Unfortunately we were only staying for one night but in our short time there Nutgrove proved to be a quality bed and breakfast. Great room, very clean and quiet with nice little touches. Have stayed in lots of bed and breakfasts and will say Nutgrove cooked breakfast one of the best. Caroline and Richard perfect hosts. Highly recommend a stay.

We have just left a wonderful three-night stay at Nutgrove House - a beautiful setting and fantastic hosts in Richard and Caroline.

We were visiting friends nearby and were delighted to come across this gem, which we would thoroughly recommend to anyone visiting the area - Strangford Lough, the beaches at Newcastle and the stunning Mourne Mountains are amongst the treasures only a short drive away.

Our room was a perfect retreat with all the amenities you could wish/hope for, but in a really relaxing and homely setting.

Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts, from providing fresh milk in our room when we returned weary from our day's excursions to recommending places to visit during our stay.

If you visit, definitely take the opportunity to visit the gardens of the house - just stunning. Before we left we walked through scented bluebell woods along the mill race to the trout lake and it felt like we had been transported to another, more peaceful, world. I was sad to leave!

Breakfast is served in the impressive dining room and everything was fresh and varied - including a wonderful traditional Irish fry to Bircher muesli and seasonal fruit.

Thank you Caroline and Richard for such a lovely time. You really were amazing hosts and your hospitality certainly helped to make our visit an enjoyable and memorable one. We hope to be back again soon. We will miss our new friend Charlie too!
